If you are about to look for used TVs or mattresses, please feel free to walk around the city of Mitcham, a suburb of Adelaide. You might find some of them along the street, and they are for free. Yup, they're for free!
For your information, several weeks ago, the city council of Mitcham announced “Domestic Hard Refuse Collection”. People are encouraged to put their general household type rubbish in front of their houses. The council will collect them during given days later. Such a type of rubbish includes computer monitors, refrigerators, televisions, sofas, etc. Although they are “rubbish”, many of them are still good enough to use. You might find some electronic devices still work.
As a resident of the city of Mitcham, I actually have an “opportunity” to hunt some “useful rubbish”. Fortunately, we have owned almost everything we need in the house. Yet, I also got almost of all of them for free. Some good friends gave me those things at the beginning of the tenancy.
I think, if this program of domestic hard refuse collection conducted in January or July, the council might collect lesser rubbish. Do you know why? It's just because there will be many new international students arrive in these months, and they might find it themselves lucky to see many things they need are available for free. In this case, there would be a mutual-relationship between three parties, i.e. the goverment-rubbish owners-the students. The students are lucky, the rubbish owners are happy, and the city council says "no worries" :-))
